Life in South Africa can be very hard. Especially for those without work or those who are not able to feed themselves and their children adequately.

Instead of treating customers and staff to the usual annual end of year party, Merpak Envelopes decided to sponsor the packaging of 12 000 meals for undernourished children. Merpak partnered with Stop Hunger Now who assisted with the organisation and supply of the specialised ingredients.

Deon Joubert, Merpak MD, tells the story,

“We hold workplace forum meeting every month at Merpak and when we put this idea of packing food parcels for undernourished children instead of a party to our staff, they unanimously adopted the idea. Our customers were not so lucky. We decided for them! Over two days, our staff gave up of their own time and we bought the ingredients. It was an event to remember. I think that we are all proud that we have made a small difference especially to hungry young tummies”
